Nigerian coach Stephen Keshi has termed their 1-0 victory against Kenya as an important result that helps their cause to next year's World Cup in Brazil.
Speaking after the match, Keshi said: "This was an important win for us because Kenya are a good side and they were playing at home.
"It certainly gives us a great advantage now that Malawi and Namibia drew on Wednesday as well.”
Keshi warned that they cannot start celebrating yet because there are still two matches to go.
He said the team started slowly against Kenya as they needed to be cautious against a team that was playing at home.
"After the match we had in Calabar, we knew Kenya are a dangerous side and it was important that we start cautiously and try and beat them on counter-attack. I am glad it worked,” the Africa Cup of Nations winning coach told Goal.
Keshi insisted that the team did not miss injured striker Victor Moses but will be glad to have him back in the squad when he is fit to play again.
